Every price, curriculum, instructor and update date checked by hand on 27 August 2026. The two highest scoring things on this list are free, and Google ranks neither of them.

I sell one of the things on this page. I run AI SEO Rainmakers, a paid community, currently $259/mo. So here is exactly how I have handled that, and you can hold me to all four:
If you already know you want the shortcut, here it is: AI SEO Rainmakers. 279 operators, north of a thousand posts and comments a day, a 3.5 hour live call with me every Wednesday, and live experiments with published budgets. It is the only thing in this audit where the material is rewritten by the room every single week instead of being filmed once and left there.. which is exactly why I refuse to score it on a rubric I wrote. 5.0 from 28 reviews, 7 day money back, keep everything you download.
If you want the honest answer to "what should I actually learn from", keep reading. For a lot of you it will not be me, and I have said so in writing below.
I went into this expecting the usual - a few decent courses, a few overpriced ones, a listicle farming affiliate commission. What I found was worse and a lot more interesting.
Here is what Google currently serves for ai seo course in the US, in order:
seo-get-to-number1-in-google-search. It is a legacy general SEO course with "AI SEO Course 2026: From Zero to Page-One Results (AEO, GEO)" bolted onto the title. Its ~119,000 students were not buying an AI SEO course. Most of the 26 sections are keyword research, meta titles and Core Web Vitals. Not one independent practitioner appears anywhere on page one. No Mike King. No Aleyda Solis. No Manick Bhan. No Julian Goldie, Jesse Cunningham, Caleb Ulku or Jonathan Boshoff, whose paid and free rooms hold over 9,000 members between them. The AI Overview cites none of them either. Page one for the head term of an entire discipline is course marketplaces, SaaS academies and one affiliate page grading its own homework.
None of that is Google being stupid. It is Google doing what it has always done - rewarding domain authority and page-level link equity on a low-competition term. Every organic result in the top ten sits between DR 76 and DR 95. The page-level strength is pathetic: URL Ratings of 4 to 11 across the board. The domains are carrying pages that would not rank on their own for a fortnight.
Which is also why you are reading this on a DR 31 personal blog. The bar is low.. somebody just had to actually do the work.
You are about to read 4,000 words on why almost everything ranking for this term was filmed once and abandoned. Rainmakers is the opposite of that by design - 279 operators posting over a thousand times a day, a 3.5 hour live call with me every Wednesday, and live experiments with published budgets that land inside before they land anywhere.
$259/mo. 5.0 from 28 reviews. 7 day money back and you keep everything you downloaded.
I run it, which is exactly why it is the one thing on this page I refuse to score. Read the rest first if you would rather - the honest verdict on who it is not for is further down.
Every roundup you have read says "we reviewed dozens and narrowed it down". None of them show you the long list, the rejects, or the maths. So here is mine, in full, before you see a single score.
First, what this audit is and is not. I have not sat through all 245 Udemy lectures. Neither has anyone else who has written one of these lists, and the ones who imply they have are lying to you. What I did do, for every entry: pulled the live sales page, the full published curriculum, the instructor's actual body of work, the last modified date, the price at checkout or on the Skool listing, and the runtime. Then I scored the thing that can be verified.
Five criteria, 100 points. The weighting is opinionated on purpose:
| Criterion | Pts | What I'm Actually Measuring |
|---|---|---|
| Built for AI Search | 25 | Was this curriculum written for AI search, or is it a 2019 SEO course with GEO and AEO stapled to the title? I checked module lists against the sales copy. A course that spends 20 of 26 sections on classic on-page and calls itself an AI SEO course scores near zero here. |
| Operator Proof | 25 | Does the person teaching this currently do the work, at scale, on sites that are not their own course funnel? Named agency, named clients, published tests, a track record you can check. An academy manager who has never had a client site deindexed does not score here. |
| Depth per Dollar | 20 | Runtime and curriculum depth against price. This is where the free stuff obliterates the paid stuff and where a $997 course with a structurally identical free version gets punished. |
| Update Cadence | 15 | Gemini 3, GPT-5.x, AI Mode and the AI Overview citation logic all moved in the last 12 months. A recorded video course is a photograph of a moving target. So is a manual with one modified date on it. Live cohorts and rooms that get rewritten weekly score here; frozen 2025 video does not. |
| Access to a Human | 15 | Can you ask "my client's pages are getting crawled by GPTBot but never cited, what now" and get an answer from someone who has fixed it, today, with their own screenshots? Or are you posting into a void? This is the criterion that separates a $997 video library from a room, and it is the one almost nobody in this category can win. |
Notice what is not in there: certificates, production value, student count and star ratings. A certificate in a field that is 18 months old is a participation trophy. Udemy's 4.6 from 20,364 ratings is measuring a course most of those people bought when it was about Google, not about ChatGPT. If those things matter to you, weight them yourself - all the raw numbers are in the tables below, so you can rebuild my ranking with your own weights in about ten minutes.
Nineteen scored. One sitting at the top with a trophy and no score against it, because it is mine and I am not marking my own homework - the full reasoning and its five biggest weaknesses are here.

1. The top two entries are free, and neither of them ranks on page one of Google for this keyword. 2. The most expensive item on the list, at $1,995/yr, finished 14th. 3. The thing ranking fifth on Google scored a 7 out of 100, because it is a gated PDF wearing the word "masterclass".
This is the calculation every roundup avoids, because it makes the paid courses look terrible. It is simple arithmetic: price divided by published runtime.
| Course | Price | Published Runtime | Cost per Hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPullRank AI Search Manual | Free | 24 chapters | $0 |
| Ahrefs AEO Course | Free | 1h 26m | $0 |
| HubSpot AEO Fundamentals | Free | 2h 20m | $0 |
| Semrush AI Visibility Essentials | Free | ~1h 13m | $0 |
| Yoast AI for SEO | $118.80/yr | ~4h (Yoast says 2-6h) | ~$30 |
| Search Atlas AI Search & SEO Mastery | $997 | Not published | ~$147 if it matches the free version's 6.8h |
| CXL Optimize Pages for AI Search | $299 | 1h 57m (on-demand) | ~$153 |
| Maven AEO Masterclass | $499 | 3h live (2 x 90min) + 4 modules | ~$166 (live portion) |
| Reforge Mastering Search & AI Optimization | $1,995/yr | Refuses to publish it | Incalculable |
That table produces two problems, and one of them should bother you more than the price.
Reforge is the one that should bother you. It is the most expensive product in the category and its own page will not tell you how long the course is, how many modules it contains, or what it costs - the page just says "get started for free". One well-known roundup lists it at $1,995/year with a duration of "not publicly stated", which means they published a recommendation for a course whose length they never established. I only got to $1,995 by digging into Reforge's own help-desk documentation. Calling that a pricing page is generous.
And the Search Atlas one needs a caveat. The paid course is $997 for 8 modules and 28+ lessons. There is also a free "Agentic Search Training Hub" on a labs subdomain of the same company running 8 modules and 29 lessons, roughly 6.8 hours, with a verifiable certificate signed off by the same founder. I could not get inside both to compare them lesson by lesson, so I am not going to tell you they are the same thing. I am going to tell you that before you spend $997, you should go and look at the free one for ten minutes.
Cost per hour punishes live cohorts, and that is a real limitation of the metric. Two hours of Mostafa ElBermawy answering your specific questions is not remotely comparable to two hours of recorded video, and my rubric gives cohorts their points back under Update Cadence and Access. I am publishing the number anyway, because "we did not calculate it" is how $153 an hour for a two-hour video gets to look reasonable.
Who teaches it: Michael King, founder of iPullRank, named Search Engine Land's Search Marketer of the Year for 2025, with contributions from Fajr Muhammad, Garrett Sussman, Francine Monahan, Annie Cushing and John Iwuozor. King is also the person who publicly reverse-engineered the Google Content Warehouse API leak and has done more to explain retrieval mechanics to working SEOs than anyone in the industry.
What it covers: retrieval-augmented generation, vector embeddings, query fan-out, passage-level retrieval, chunking, how citation selection actually works inside the model rather than how a marketing blog imagines it works. It is the only resource in this entire audit that explains the mechanism rather than giving you a checklist of tactics that stop working when a model version ships.
Why it wins: it is more technically current than every paid course I looked at, it is written by people running an agency on this work right now, and it costs nothing. It is also delivered as an email series if you would rather have it drip.
Where it loses points, and it is not a small thing: it is a document. Nobody posts in it. It has one modified date on it and no cadence behind that date, so the day a model version shifts the citation behaviour, the manual says what it said last month. There is no one to ask at 11pm when a client site is crawled by GPTBot and never cited. It scored 4/15 on Access and 12/15 on Update Cadence, and those two together are the entire gap between a 86 and a score in the high nineties.
Which is the honest case for paying for a room instead. A manual is the best free education in this category and it is still a snapshot. Rainmakers gets rewritten by 279 people over a thousand times a day, because that is what the format does and a PDF cannot. Read King first. If you hit a wall on your own sites afterwards, that wall is what the room is for.
Take it if: you are technical, you learn by reading, and you want the mechanism. Skip it if: you need structure, deadlines or someone checking your work.
A free Skool community with over 4,100 members, 50-plus cloneable n8n, Claude and Python workflows, and live office hours. The reason this scores second is Depth per Dollar - you are getting working automations you can clone and run, plus a room of people, for zero.
Where it loses points: free communities are noisy by definition, and there is no curriculum spine. You get the workflows, you do not get a path.
Take it if: you want to see what other operators are actually running before you pay anyone anything. Honestly, if you take nothing else from this page, join this and read for two weeks first.
FREE 12 lessons across 5 modules, 1 hour 26 minutes, taught by Sam Oh. No sign-up, no subscription, no email gate - which is more than can be said for most of this list. The fastest route from knowing nothing to being competent that exists right now. It is tool-flavoured (the examples use Ahrefs).. but it is not a disguised demo. If you have 90 minutes and no budget, start here and then go read King's manual.
FREE No ads, no paid inclusions, no certificate. Aleyda's roadmap is on version 4, updated 20 March 2026, and she is one of maybe five people in this industry whose recommendations I would take without checking.
Correction, and it is on meI originally scored this a 59 and wrote that it was "possibly abandoned", because the /about/ page carries a modified date of 11 July 2025. The site itself says "Version 4 Updated on March 20, 2026" in the header, and the homepage timestamp agrees. I read a stale sub-page and drew a conclusion from it, on a page whose entire argument is that other people do not check things. Rescored 2/15 to 11/15 on Update Cadence. Leaving the mistake visible rather than quietly editing it out.
Where it still loses points: it is a roadmap and a set of guides, not a course, and there is nobody to ask. Take it as the free syllabus you work through on your own.
FREE 20 video lessons, roughly 73 minutes, certificate included, taught by Rita Cidre with expert lessons from Leigh McKenzie. It is the only free course in the set that names query fan-out properly, and the AI visibility measurement section actually earns its runtime. It is also, transparently, a funnel into the Semrush AI toolkit, and it loses points on Operator Proof because an academy head is not an operator. Semrush has also owned Traffic Think Tank since 2023, which I reviewed back when it was independent - worth knowing whose ecosystem you are stepping into.
FREE 2 hours 20 minutes across seven lessons, and it is properly product-agnostic rather than a disguised HubSpot demo. Pair it with "Implementing AEO With HubSpot" and you get a dual certification badge. If your boss wants a certificate on your LinkedIn by Friday, this is the cheapest way to get one that is not embarrassing.
Do not confuse it with the "AI SEO Masterclass" at offers.hubspot.com, which is a different asset entirely, ranks fifth on Google, and scored 7/100. That page names no instructor, publishes no curriculum, states no runtime, mentions no LLM, no ChatGPT, no AEO and no GEO, and its body copy still promises results "in 2024 and beyond". It is a form-gated resource bundle. It is not a masterclass and it is not a course.
Taught by Mostafa ElBermawy, founder of NoGood and Goodie AI. Two live sessions over two days plus four lesson modules. This is the best paid course on the list and it wins for one structural reason: it is live, so it gets rebuilt every cohort. A live cohort in a field that moves monthly is worth more than triple the runtime of frozen video.
Where it loses points: around $166/hr on the live portion, and two days is two days. You will leave with direction, not competence. Note the summary block says "2 hrs" while the actual schedule shows two 90-minute sessions - I used the scheduled 3 hours, which is the kinder number.
Steve Toth, CEO of Notebook Agency and the man behind SEO Notebook, which is one of the few newsletters in this space actually worth the inbox space. Six weeks, Tuesdays, with 30-60 minutes of prep video a week. Real operator, real cohort, sensible price for what it is.
The awkward part: CXL also publishes the listicle ranking sixth on Google for this keyword, in which three of eight entries are CXL products, the number one pick is a CXL product, the "our recommendation" section picks a CXL product, and the closing CTA is a CXL product. The course is good. The listicle selling it is a sales page in a listicle's clothes, and it is the single most-cited editorial source in Google's AI Overview for this term. Buy the course, ignore the list.
Manick Bhan founded LinkGraph and Search Atlas, so the operator credentials are real. The framing is "over $3,497 in industry-leading AI search systems - yours for just $997", which is the oldest price anchor in the book. Discount it accordingly.
One thing to note before the numbers: the sales page lists modules but never publishes a lesson total, so "28+" is my count off their own module list, not a published figure.
Worth knowing: "manick bhan ai seo course" does around 200 searches a month in the US, which is very nearly as much as the generic head term "ai seo course" at 250. That is a remarkable thing about this market - personal brand demand is roughly equal to category demand. Dig into the monthly history though and the term did not exist before June 2025 and swings between 25 and 408 searches a month. That is the signature of campaign-driven demand, not durable interest.
Before you buy: check the free Agentic Search Training Hub on their labs subdomain. 8 modules, 29 lessons, ~6.8 hours, verifiable certificate. I could not compare them lesson by lesson so I am not claiming they are identical. I am saying look at the free one first.
Ethan Smith has the best CV of anyone in this audit - CEO of Graphite, advisor to MasterClass, Notion, Webflow, Upwork, Ticketmaster, adjunct professor at IE Business School. He scored 22/25 on Operator Proof, the second-highest mark I gave anyone.
And the course page still scored 45, because the page selling an AI optimisation course never once says ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews, LLM, GEO, AEO or schema. Its three testimonials are all dated November 2023. It sells "live sessions for applied strategy" while labelling the course "self-paced, on-demand", which is boilerplate that does not match the product. And it will not tell you the price, the length or the module count.
Verdict: a likely-good course buried inside a $1,995 membership, behind a page that has not been updated for the era it claims to teach. If your employer is paying, fine. If it is your money, no.
I have grouped these because the failure mode is identical - volume publishing.
seo-get-to-number1-in-google-search and the majority of its 26 sections are keyword research, meta titles, content quality and Core Web Vitals. It is a very good general SEO course wearing an AI SEO title. The enrolment number is legacy and it is the single biggest trap on Google's page one.If you want a certificate for a CV, take the free HubSpot one. If you want to learn, none of these four are the answer.
Here is the argument nobody in a course-selling roundup wants to make: in a discipline this young, a recorded course is a depreciating asset and access is an appreciating one.
A course records what was true on the day it was filmed. Between filming and you watching it the model versions changed, the AI Overview citation behaviour changed, and half the tools got repriced.. a community re-answers the question every week with whatever is true this week. That is why the two highest-scoring paid options in this entire audit are a community and a live cohort, not a recorded course. It is not universal - Ahrefs' free recorded course at 71 beats both Goldie (70) and Ulku's Pro tier (69) - but the pattern holds at the top.
Look at what that actually means in practice. Mike King's manual is the best free education in this category and it was modified once, on 7 August. Rainmakers took over a thousand posts and comments in the last 24 hours. One of those is a reference work and one is a working room, and only one of them tells you what stopped working this week.
Member counts and prices below were read off the live Skool listings on 27 August 2026. You can verify every one of them in about 90 seconds, mine included.
| Community | Owner | Price | Members | What You're Buying | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🏆 AI SEO Rainmakers | Charles Floate (me) | $259/mo | 279 | 9 courses, 62 modules, weekly 3.5h live call, 1,000+ posts and comments a day, live experiments with published budgets | NOT SCORED |
| AI SEO Operators | Jonathan Boshoff | FREE | 4,100 | 50+ cloneable n8n/Claude/Python workflows, office hours | 82 |
| Rank Expand Academy | Jesse Cunningham | $99/mo | 734 | 221 video lessons, daily live coaching, n8n + microsites, roadmap to first client | 79 |
| SEO Elite Circle | Julian Goldie | $149/mo | 690 | Weekly hot-seat calls, DM access, SOPs, private case studies | 70 |
| AI SEO Mastery Pro | Caleb Ulku | $217/mo | 680 | Weekly Zoom, advanced modules, agency prompts, "Core 30" agent beta | 69 |
| AI SEO Mastery (front end) | Caleb Ulku | $27/mo | 3,100 | Course library, copy-paste prompts + SOPs, 7-day guarantee | Not scored Front end of the same ladder |
The scores matter less here than what the funnels tell you:
Caleb Ulku is running the most legible funnel in the category. $27/mo with 3,100 members on the front end, $217/mo with 680 on the back end. That is a ~22% front-to-back conversion, which is an unusually strong ratio. Third-party reviewers had the Pro tier at $197/mo as recently as May 2026, so the ladder is moving. If you are building an education business rather than buying one, study that ladder.
Julian Goldie publishes no pricing anywhere he controls. Every verifiable number for SEO Elite Circle comes from Skool's own listing ($149/mo, 690 members) or from third-party reviewers, one of whom lists $997/year. His own sites route everything to a call. He also runs a free 90,000+ member front-end group, which tells you where the funnel starts. The opacity is a choice rather than a scandal.. but for a roundup, it is the story.
I built the rubric on this page. If I now apply it to my own product and put myself at number one, I have done the exact thing I spent 800 words attacking CXL for. So I am not going to.
Here are the raw numbers instead, pulled from Skool on 27 August 2026. Every one of them is publicly verifiable on the Skool listing in the time it takes to open a tab:
Now the part a sales page would not print. Where it loses against things on this list:
What it is actually for: the stuff I cannot publish here. Parasite placements that are working right now, the tests before they become public knowledge, the grey areas of AI citation acquisition, and a room of operators from companies you have heard of arguing about what is working this week rather than what worked last year.
Rainmakers is where I put the plays I can't publish on a blog post that Google indexes. Live tests with published budgets, a 3.5 hour call every Wednesday, and 279 operators who post their receipts. $259/mo, locked while you stay, 7 day money back and you keep everything you downloaded.
See What's Inside Rainmakers →
Price rises $10 per 25 new members and never drops. Verify the member count and the reviews on Skool before you decide - I would rather you checked.
I read the full published curriculum of all 19. Here is what none of them teach, and some of it matters more than what they do teach:
Those seven gaps are not a rhetorical device. They are the syllabus I built Rainmakers around, because they are the things that made money this year and the things nobody will film a course about. Parasite placement, the paid route to citation, the vertical work in iGaming and crypto where the citation sets are completely different domains, and what the leaks and the DOJ testimony actually said versus what the guidelines say. That is the whole reason the room is $259 and not $27.
AI referral traffic is roughly 0.14% of all web traffic. Semrush measured billions of visits across 50,000+ websites through 2025: AI traffic grew 66%, from 462 million to 767 million monthly visits, and still landed at 0.14% of the total. Google AI Mode went from 1,600 visits to 38.2 million by December 2025 and that is still 0.01%.
So anyone selling you a GEO course on the promise of referral traffic is selling you a rounding error. The actual case for this work is citation and influence, not clicks - being the name that comes out of the model when someone asks it what to buy. That is a much better argument, and it is much harder to put on a sales page, which is why almost nobody makes it.
While we are here, the industry is quoting both of these wrong:
| If You Are... | Budget | Take This |
|---|---|---|
| Already competent, want what is working this week before it is public | $259/mo | 🏆 AI SEO Rainmakers - the only option here that gets rewritten daily. Mine, so weight it how you like |
| Technical, want the actual mechanism | $0 | iPullRank AI Search Manual, then Ahrefs AEO course |
| Starting from zero, no budget at all | $0 | Ahrefs AEO course (90 min) → join AI SEO Operators free → read the manual |
| Need a certificate for a CV or procurement | $0 | HubSpot AEO Fundamentals + Implementing AEO, dual badge |
| Want structure and a real instructor answering you | $499 | Maven AEO Masterclass, next cohort 28-29 Oct 2026 |
| Want six weeks of cohort with an operator | $299 | CXL, Steve Toth, starts 28 Sep 2026 |
| Agency owner who wants a finished library + daily calls | $99/mo | Jesse Cunningham, Rank Expand Academy |
| Cheapest paid room to test the water | $27/mo | Caleb Ulku, AI SEO Mastery front end |
| Your employer is paying and wants a known brand | $1,995/yr | Reforge, and make them read this page first |
One last thing, and it is the whole reason this page exists. Spend two weeks in the free material before you give anyone your card, me included. If you come out of King's manual and Boshoff's room still hitting a wall on your own sites, then pay someone - and by then you will know enough to tell which someone. Almost nobody in this category will tell you that, because almost nobody in this category has a product that survives you knowing what you are doing.
Mine does. Every person in Rainmakers who is getting results out of it already knew the basics when they joined - that is precisely who it is built for. If that is you, the door is below and the 7 day guarantee means you can look before you commit to anything.
🏆 AI SEO Rainmakers - 279 operators, 1,000+ posts and comments a day, 9 courses and 62 modules, a 3.5 hour live call with me every Wednesday, and live experiments with published budgets landing inside before they land anywhere else.
$259/mo, locked while you stay. 5.0 from 28 reviews. 7 day money back and you keep everything you downloaded.
Still the one thing on this page I would not score. Go and check the member count and read the reviews on Skool before you decide.
On the rubric I published above, the highest-scoring resource is iPullRank's AI Search Manual at 86/100, and it is free. The highest-scoring paid course is Maven's AEO Masterclass with Mostafa ElBermawy at 76/100 and $499, which wins because it is a live cohort that gets rebuilt every time it runs. The highest-scoring paid community is Jesse Cunningham's Rank Expand Academy at 79/100 and $99/mo. None of those three is my product.
For the first month, learn free. The two highest scoring things in this audit cost nothing, and paying $997 before you have read a free 24-chapter manual is how people end up with a certificate and no skill. Pay when you hit the specific thing free material cannot give you: someone experienced answering your particular question about your particular site. That is what you are actually buying at every price point above zero.
They largely describe the same work with different marketing. AEO (answer engine optimisation) came from the featured-snippet era and is about being the extracted answer. GEO (generative engine optimisation) is about being retrieved and cited by a generative model - ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Mode. "AI SEO" is the umbrella that also covers using AI in your own workflow, which is a completely separate activity that vendors bundle in to make courses look fuller. If a curriculum spends most of its runtime on prompting ChatGPT to write blog posts, it is teaching you AI-assisted content production, not AI search visibility.
To a hiring manager or a procurement form, sometimes. To Google, ChatGPT or a client's revenue, no. The discipline is roughly 18 months old, no certifying body has authority in it, and the certificates in this audit are issued by companies selling software. If you need one, take the free HubSpot dual certification and spend the money you saved on testing.
Because the rubric weights currency, operator proof and update cadence heavily, and recorded courses decay fast in a field where model versions and citation behaviour shift monthly. Reforge scored 45/100 despite Ethan Smith having the second-best operator credentials in the audit, because the page selling an AI optimisation course does not contain the words ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews, LLM, GEO, AEO or schema, and its testimonials are dated November 2023. Credentials do not carry a stale curriculum.
Far less than the courses imply. Semrush measured AI traffic at roughly 0.14% of all web traffic across 50,000+ sites through 2025, even after 66% year-on-year growth. The real return on this work is citation and influence - being the source a model reaches for - not referral clicks. Anyone selling you GEO on a traffic promise is selling you a rounding error.

Because I wrote the rubric. If I score my own product with it and it comes out on top, that is an advert with a table in it, not a review - which is precisely what the listicle currently ranking sixth for this keyword does, with three of its eight picks being its own products. My numbers are published in full above, unscored and unranked, with five specific things it loses at. Verify them on Skool and decide for yourself.

Methodology: every price, curriculum, runtime, instructor credential and last-modified date on this page was verified by hand on 27 August 2026 against the live sales page or the provider's own documentation. Skool member counts and prices were read from live listings on the same date. Keyword volumes and SERP composition come from Ahrefs (US). Where a figure could not be verified without a checkout or login, it is marked UNVERIFIED rather than estimated. Prices change; this page carries a visible last-verified date so you can judge how stale it is.
